Matthew has held a number of private sector and government sector roles during a 30-year career, the majority of which has been overseas. In the UK he worked for London Transport, during the transition to Transport for London. This was sandwiched between two stints in Consultancy, for
Steer Davies Gleave (now Steer) and latterly for WS Atkins where he was Department Head for Transportation.

He then relocated to Singapore in 2004 to join the Gov-owned Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT), where he helped restructure the
planning business, before joining their international consulting arm.

In 2013 he moved to Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, joining Tatweer Educational Transportation Company as an Advisor in the CEO Office. In 2017 he moved to the Royal Commission for Riyadh City as part of the $30bn Riyadh Metro & Bus project, initially as Head of Public Relations & Communications, before taking up an Advisor position as the project moved towards completion.
